Testing Backlog Eased At Local Assessment Centre

The COVID-19 Assessment Centre is back to near normal levels in terms of traffic.

The Dryden Regional Health Centre had been reporting an overwhelming increase in the volume of calls.

Joan Mallyon is the VP Chief Nursing Executive and says “We’re currently seeing the numbers fluctuate. Leading up to Thanksgiving there was a decrease in the number of patients to go through the Assessment Centre but now we’re starting to see the numbers climb back up. So we’re sitting about an average of 30 a day.”

Mallyon adds they are currently booking same day or next day, depending on when you are calling.

If you have coronavirus symptoms, you are asked to call the Dryden Assessment Centre at 223-3737 or email assess@drhc.on.ca to arrange an appointment.

You must be symptomatic to receive a swab unless you are in a designated group, a health care worker or going for surgery and it’s recommended that you get a swab.
