New jobs & growth: A Studio 6 hotel is nearing completion in Dryden and a Boston Pizza is being built, boosting tourism capacity and creating local jobs.
Wabigoon youth programs growing: The Junior Ranger program has a record number of participants, helping youth connect with land-based learning and traditional knowledge.
Red Lake & Ear Falls
Outdoor tourism expansion: Funding has been secured to expand Boreal hiking and snowshoe trails, helping attract visitors and support local businesses.
Sioux Lookout
Health care innovation: The Meno Ya Win Health Centre’s Traditional Healing Program is expanding, with more Elder-led and land-based care—and is being recognized as a model across the province.
Growth as a regional hub: New hotels, conference space, and mixed-use developments are progressing alongside plans for 96 new long-term care beds.
Ignace
Major long-term investment: Work is underway for a 65,000 sq. ft. NWMO Centre of Expertise, expected to create steady jobs and become a regional hub.
Ongoing upgrades: Recreation facilities are being improved with provincial funding to enhance quality of life.
New infrastructure & policing improvements: Plans include modern OPP detachments in Red Lake, Sioux Lookout, and Ignace—strengthening public safety long term.
Community events & connection:
Pride events, clean-ups, markets, and cultural gatherings are happening across Dryden and nearby communities this month.
It all adds up to a region that’s building momentum going into summer 2026.
