The Summer of Fires

One of the top news stories in northwestern Ontario was the record number of forest fires.
The Ministry of Natural Resources says more than 44-hundred people from 11-Northern communities were evacuated between July 21st and August 9th.
Information Officer Debbie MacLean says it was a massive undertaking to get the evacuees to 15-host communities in Ontario.
Most evacuations were due to smoke, however McLean notes a couple of fires did inch close to some communities.
