The first month of the forest fire season wasn’t exactly a busy one in northwestern Ontario!
Three fires were reported in April, two of which came last weekend.
A fire crew was dispatched to a railway fire east of Vermilion Bay on Monday and firefighters dealt with a small human-caused grass fire at Grassy Narrows First Nation.
The Ministry of Natural Resources is still asking the public to be extra careful when burning as most lakes remain inaccessible to draw water from.
Today’s rain and snow in the far north will help knock down the hazard even more.
