Three men face large moose hunting fine

A hefty hunting fine has been levied against three men from the Parry Sound area.

The charges stem from a hunting trip north of Red Lake in October of 2023.

Conservation officers were conducting a moose hunting enforecment patrol at the time and inspected the moose they have harvested.

Officers received conflicting information about there the moose was killed.

A total of over $20,000 in fines has been levied, including $12,000 for possession illegally killed wildlife, unlawfully tagging a moose and obstructing a conservation officer.

There was also a fine for $7,000 for hunting a moose without a license and $1,500 for making a false statement to a conservation officer.
