An attempted traffic stop turned into a harrowing pursuit with Dryden Police.
Police spotted a driver suspected of impaired driving Monday and officers learned that the vehicle had been stolen from Regina, Saskatchewan.
Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled at a high rate of speed.
Police say as the fleeing vehicle caught up with a transport in the same lane of traffic, the driver swerved onto the opposite lane forcing incoming traffic to slow and pull over to avoid a collision.
Officers backed off to ensure public safety but located the unoccupied vehicle six kilometres east of Wabigoon.
Police were than able to arrest the three individuals involved.
29-year-old Jason Hotomaine of Regina faces charges of:
-Adult Obstruct Peace Officer
-Adult Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code
-Adult Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
-Adult Flight from Peace Officer
-Adult Possession of Property obtained by Crime over $5,000
-Adult Failure or refusal to comply with demand.
Two accused females both have been charged with Obstruct a Peace Officer, Possession of Schedule 1 Substance and two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation.
There names can’t be released.
