Thunder Bay Making Official Bid For Ring Of Fire Smelter

Thunder Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury and Timmins are the communities which have officially put in bids to host a Ring of Fire smelter.

Noront Resources CEO Alan Coutts explains the bids will be examined by a consulting firm, which could take three to four months to complete.

Coutts says they have four very detailed packages to go through, noting they still have to look at operating and capital costs associated with the plant.

Coutts notes one area they will be looking at is what intangibles each community brings to the table.

He expects the winning bid will be announced this Spring.
