Thunder Bay Mayor Reacts To Latest Development In Event Centre

Thunder Bay Mayor Keith Hobbs is disappointed after getting a letter from the Federal Government about funding for the proposed event centre.
The letter from Infrastructure Minister Denis Lebel states Thunder Bay will only receive funding if they build a stand alone convention centre and not have a professional sports team as an anchor tenant in the arena portion of the building.
However, Hobbs says he’s not taking this letter as the end and notes he’s not a quitter.
Council will now meet on April 13th to discuss their next options including building a stand alone facility, shelving the project for now or having the LU Thunderwolves as the anchor tenant.
