The federal government is being accused of treating people seeking employment insurance as criminals.
Thunder Bay-Rainy River MP John Rafferty says complaints to his office about people being denied E-I stems from recent changes made to the system.
He adds these are some of the consequences of making bad decisions from the government’s point of view.
Rafferty notes the government expects to see a certain rate of denials which he finds bizarre because people pay for E.I all of their lives.
Many of the complaints have come from workers employed on a seasonal basis.
