There is still time to get your team in for the 4th Annual Eton-Rugby Backcountry Blast on Sunday.
Organizer Shannon Wogenstahl was a guest on the CKDR Morning Show Monday to announce the “mud run” has been renamed the Joyce MacRae Memorial.
Wogenstahl says Joyce was a long time organizer and she recently lost her battle with cancer.
Proceeds from the “mud run” will go towards the purchase of a new CT Scan Unit at the Dryden Regional Health Centre.
Wogenstahl notes in the last three years, they have managed to raise more than $40,000.
The event is a 5-kilometre “mud run” through the mixed terrain of the Rugby Creek area that includes a variety of obstacles, both natural and man-made.
Wogenstahl notes all obstacles are optional and this is a fun event.
Participants are urged to dress up for some great prizes.
Check-in Sunday is at 9:30am, with the first team hitting the course at 11:00am
