The Past President of the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association is asking the Premier to quickly act on removing government red tape.
The PC’s have made that a priority with the creation of a separate Ministry.
Dave Canfield says municipalities are at the point where they are simply over regulated.
Canfield says the rules and regulations are so stringent and they duplicate themselves.
He stresses if things aren’t straightened out soon, Ontario will never be open for business.
Canfield says excessive and unnecessary regulations deter developers and slow down timely community development.
He says regulations are crucial but notes in most cases project approvals don’t need to take long as they are.
