Tough 4th Quarter for Abitibi

Abitibi-Consolidated continued to post losses in the fourth quarter
of last year.
The company recorded a $22-million loss in late 2006.
Chief Financial Officer Pierre Rougeau says they forsee some profit
from their hydro electric partnership with a Quebec-based institution.
For the full year, Abitibi recorded net earnings of $54-million compared
to a loss of $350-million in 2005.
