Tough Year for Toboggan Club

Fuel costs, soaring insurance rates, the price of a trail pass and a
lack of volunteers are all factors behind the Dryden Power Toboggan Club’s
recent woes.
More than 40-people attended a meeting Tuesday night in a bid to protect
the long term stability of the groomed trail system.
Incoming President Jeff Robinson says he doesn’t know if the Club
will be around next winter.
The group lost $7,000 maintaining the trail system this winter and that number could go up even more.
The executive will be meeting shortly to crunch the numbers as well as discuss new ways of recruiting volunteers and to look at creating a more social environment to attract younger members.
The Club is also hoping that Police step up enforcement as more than
2000 snowmobilers used the groomed system this winter however only 285-trail
passes were sold.
They are also asking the Province to lower the price of trail passes and free up gas tax revenue.
