A new survey released by the Northwestern Ontario Tourist Association outlines just how important the tourism industry is to the economy of the Region.
Consultant Fran Hohol says that American travellers are responsible for a majority of the tourist spending in the Region including 88% of the overnight stays.
The survey also shows that tourism is responsible for almost 10,000 jobs in Sunset Country and injects more than $300 million into the local economy.
Of the 440 tourist operators in the Region, 77 provided data for the study.
