Tourism Minister Says Vaccination Passport Not A Priority

Ontario’s Tourism Minister says she’s focused on turning the province’s tourism sector around.

Lisa McLeod says at this point she’s not thinking of a Vaccination Passport for out-of-country visitors.

“That a decision largely undertaken by the federal government,” says McLeod.

“I think these are conversations we have to continually have. Obviously, whether it’s our northern communities or our border cities, like the Thousand Islands…Niagara…Windsor…others. These are conversations that they are having.”

McLeod adds that the province is doing everything it can to help out the tourism industry.

“I was at Pearson International Airport and obviously, they went down, I think, from close to 50 million flights, down to 13 million the previous year. I think these are important conversations to have, but they are all led by the federal government.”

McLeod says COVID-19 has hit tourism outfitters hard and anyway the province can help, it will.
