Canadian Pacific Railway says it hopes to reopen its main line Wednesday afternoon between Vermilion Bay and Kenora.
Spokesperson Breanne Feigel says 27-cars left the track late Sunday night, about 40 kilometers east of Kenora.
Feigel says C.P.is currently re-routing rail traffic in northwestern Ontario.
She adds that crews are working to get the cars back on the track, do repairs, and investigate the cause of the derailment.
The incident didn’t pose any threat to the environment and no one was injured.
