If not by land, then by water!
That’s the decision of the Trans-Canada Trail Committee trying to get its nation-wide series of trails through Northwestern Ontario.
The group has been having a difficult time finding a route through the region and has agreed on a proposal which will use waterways from the Manitoba border to Lake Superior.
Regional Coordinator Vicki Kurtz says it will take about 18 months before this section of the network is ready for public use.
Kurtz says the plan is to bring the trail through Shoal Lake, to Lake of the Woods, down to Quetico, then east to Lake Superior.
Officials hope to have the trail ready by the Summer of 2005.
