The Ministry of Natural Resources and New Osnabugh First Nation are happy to report that some 500-evacuees are returning home on Friday.
The residents were forced from their home last week as a large forest fire nearby blew smoke into the community.
The MNR is arranging bus and flight plans from Sioux Lookout, Ignace and Greenstone for Friday.
Information Officer Karen Passmore stresses a contingency plan is being developed to deal with the evacuation of community members if the smoke returns.
Passmore says they have also canceled some travel restrictions in the area.
For anyone traveling on Highway 599, motorists will no longer require an escort as of 7:00 Friday morning.
Passmore notes an Emergency Area Order remains in effect.
