Some heated debate at Dryden City Hall Monday as councillors wrestled
with a draft by-law on increasing tipping fees at the landfill.
The proposed changes would see charges doubled for dumping what is
called a mixed load or trash which contains recyclable material.
Director of Engineering Brad Johns told Council that was to ‘encourage’
people to use the transfer site on highway 502 or the blue box system.
Some felt that was excessive & voted instead for a 50% hike.
The issue will be the subject of a public meeting July 18th.
