Two remote northern First Nations have been selected to participate in a new Ontario energy conservation program.
Keewaywin and Wunnumin Lake First Nations will have access to the resources they need to help save energy through the ‘saveOnenergy Aboriginal Conservation Program’.
Andrew Pride is the Vice of President of Conservation with the Ontario Power Authority.
Pride says project managers are already informing residents about conservation and different retrofits available for houses and businesses.
Pride notes they long-term goal is reduce electricity usage across the province.
A total of 12 Ontario aboriginal Communities will participate in the first year of the program.
