A new relationship is on the horizon for Unifor.
That’s the feeling of the union giant following the results of the federal election.
Local national representative Stephen Boon says the election of the Trudeau Liberals is “a breath of fresh air.”
Boon says it’s nice to have a government that will work with stakeholders rather then targeting them and he’s anticipating a more proactive and positive working relationship.
He adds the government has spent the last 10-years cutting the labour movement out of the decision making process.
Boon is also applauding the selection of Bob Nault, calling him a great ally of labour.
He says one priority moving forward is dealing with the expiration of the Softwood Lumber deal.
