Unifor Provides Hoshizaki House With $2,000

Unifor is providing the Hoshizaki House in Dryden with $2,000.

The money is part of a $146,000 donation to 73 crisis centres across Canada to recognize International Women’s Day.

The union says the contribution is to acknowledge the amazing work the Crisis Shelter and its dedicated staff provide to the community to help those in need.

National President Jerry Dias adds they know local services are greatly under-resourced.

Dias says Unifor offers their support to women who are transitioning to new lives, free of violence, as part of their effort to achieve equality for all.

He notes they will continue to be at the forefront of change to push for paid domestic violence leave, the eradication of sexual harassment and violence, the implementation of universal, affordable public child care, the elimination of the gender wage gap and the creation of good paying jobs.
