Brace yourself for higher natural gas rates in the new year.
Union Gas has filed an application to increase their rates starting January 1st.
Officials say it’s because market prices have increased significantly over the past two months as demand for natural gas has grown due to unseasonably cold weather across North America.
Residential customers would see an increase of $71 a year on an average annual bill of $910.
Businesses will be looking at an increase of almost $3,000 a year.
