Another big shutdown at Thunder Bay’s AbitibiBowater plant has unions, who represent 1,100 workers, nervous about what’s in store for a meeting Thursday with management.
The Communications, Energy and Paperworkers say they don’t know what to expect.
CEP is worried the company could be contemplating a permanent closure of its Thunder Bay operations.
The comments come after the company said it would idle its newsprint and kraft pulp operations for much of next month due to reduced orders and high electricity costs.
About 700-people will be layed off.
