Update on Nipigon Fire #20

Nipigon Fire #20 has now consumed over 14,000 hectares of land
northwest of Nakina.
Ministry of Natural Resources Information Officer Debbie McLean says
the blaze is so intense that they haven’t been able to put crews ahead of
the fire.
McLean says 135 firefighters have been deployed to the area.
Fortunately the fire is burning in an unpopulated area however it is
threatening Buchanen’s harvested wood supply.
McLean says they are trying to slow down the blaze by conducting back
burning.
An Emergency Area Order is now in effect and travel on roads near the fire has been restricted.
