The Nishnawbe Aski Police Service is releasing an update on a sudden death investigation in North Spirit First Nation in early June.
Police say they were contacted in early June regarding the death of a two-year-old girl who was brought into the nursing station and later pronounced dead.
Officers say the two year old was identified as Aria Rose Rae from North Spirit First Nation.
NAPS then say the post-mortem was held in Toronto on June 15th.
Police say on Tuesday August 1st, 34 year old Norman Rae of North Spirit First Nation was arrested and charged with Criminal Negligence causing death, Failing to provide the necessities of life and Abandoning a child.
Officers say the accused remains in custody and will appear in Kenora at the Ontario Court of Justice on Friday August 4, 2017.
