UPDATED: Severe thunderstorm watch ends

The risk of severe thunderstorms has come to an end, according to Environment Canada.

A severe thunderstorm watch that had in place for a wide swath of northwestern Ontario ended shortly after 9 p.m. CT on Saturday.

Forecasters warned about the potential for wind gusts of 90 to 100 kilometres per hour, along with nickel to ping pong ball sized hail and heavy rainfall.

A number of severe thunderstorm warnings were issued Saturday afternoon and evening as storms moved through the region.
