User fees are expected to go up at the Sandy Beach Ball Diamonds.
Dryden Council is expected to approve a $5-dollar an hour rate increase for the diamonds and a hike in the use of the Pavilion. (hourly rental rate of $25 and day rate of $100)
Recreation and Parks Manager Jennifer McMillan says the increase is to help off-set the cost of lights at the diamonds but notes other expenses are involved.
McMillan cites a number of factors including staff, janitorial, maintenance and insurance.
Hydro costs were $4,100 last year, compared to $1,800 in 2010.
McMillan does note that the lights have created new opportunities.
She says minor ball can now go later in the day and adult groups can start earlier in the season.
