The mosquitos aren’t biting this summer, at least not the west nile
positive ones.
Al Mathers with the Northwestern Health Unit says its been a very
quiet year, with only a handful of birds testing positive early in the
season.
However, Mathers cautions August is a traditionally active month.
Mathers says the Health Unit mosquito collection program will continue
but notes they have stopped the routine collection of birds.
He says they have yet to record a west nile positive mosquito or
a human case of the virus.
