The Veterans Ride Across Canada is wrapping up its horseback tour through northwestern Ontario to raise awareness of post traumatic stress disorder concerning military veterans and high suicide rates.
Paul Nichols is leading the campaign and says he wants to give veterans a face to their communities.
Nichols wife Terry is a therapeutic horse riding instructor and is giving veterans a riding lesson before they take a trip through their home towns.
He notes Canadians love their troops and their commitment to the county but notes vets are often quickly forgotten.
The ride left Victoria, B.C. in April and is heading to St. John’s Newfoundland.
The Veterans Ride made a stop in Dryden this week.
