Victim ID’d; 2nd degree murder charge laid in Wabaseemoong

Police have now laid charges in connection to a sudden death on the Wabaseemoong First Nation Wednesday.

32 year old Emma Jane Fisher of Wabaseemoong First Nation, has been arrested and charged with second degree murder, in connection to the death of 61 year old Alex Smith, also of Wabaseemoong First Nation.

Officers were called to a home on Cameron’s Loop just before 6 a.m. Wednesday where Smith was located deceased.

The accused has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Kenora court on March 8th.

Police still haven’t revealed the cause of death but say a post-mortem examination is slated to take place at a later date in Toronto.
