Sad news to report about the 52 year old diver from Burlington who was pulled unconscious from Lake Superior last week.
Ontario Provincial Police report after extensive medical treatment, Scott Stitt has died.
Stitt, and four colleagues, were diving at a shipwreck site off of Neys Provincial Park when the incident occurred.
Police aren’t sure whether it was a problem with the diving gear he was wearing, or if it was a health issue.
They are continuing to investigate.

Male dies
(MARATHON, ON) – After extensive medical treatment in Marathon, Thunder Bay and Burlington, the OPP have been informed that Scott STITT has died in hospital. The OPP are continuing to investigate the cause of the incident.
On Wednesday Aug 9, 2017 at approximately 1:00 p.m. members of the Marathon Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call at Neys Provincial Park (NPP) to assist the Marathon Emergency Medical Services (EMS). A male had been involved in a diving related incident that could result in serious injury.
Five males had been doing a technical dive at the Judge Hart shipwreck, on Lake Superior, southwest of NPP. One of the divers experienced problems and became unconscious and floated to the surface. He was brought back onboard and CPR was conducted. He was transported to shore where they were met by EMS and further medical treatment was administered. The male was transported to a local hospital for further treatments and later transferred to Thunder Bay and then to Burlington.
Scott STITT a 52 year old male from Burlington, ON still remains in critical condition in Burlington Hospital where he continues to receive treatment.
