Vote in Favour of Establishing Area Services Board

The ball is in the municipalities court.
Residents in outlying areas in the Kenora District have voted in favour of developing an Area Services Board by a 4 to 1 margain.
Unincorporated Ratepayers Association President Bill Blower says they now need municipal support.
The Association needs to have six municipalities that make up a majority of the population vote in favour of the proposal.
Sioux Lookout has pledged their support, while Dryden and Kenora have voiced concern that it would become another level of government.
The Board would create an agency that would collect property taxes and deliver services like Board of Health and Homes for the Aged.
December 12th is the deadline for municipalities.
