Wabigoon is included on a list of First Nations who have failed to file their financial statements with the Federal government.
The Department of Aboriginal Affairs has released a list of 210 bands, including 20 in the north, that missed Friday’s deadline to submit their 2014/2015 audited finances.
The list includes Sandy Lake, Sachigo Lake, Bearskin, Kashechewan, Big Trout Lake, Rainy River and Grassy Narrows.
The federal government says starting today, it will begin withholding funding for non-essential services for any band that doesn’t not submit their financial statements.
Other aboriginal communities include: Dalles, Northwest Angle #33 and #37, Seine River and Wabaseemung, Wabuskang and Fort William.
