Wallace Stewart

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Wallace Stewart, of Waldof announces his passing on Friday, October 29, 2010 at the Dryden Regional Health Centre after a courageous battle with cancer.

Throughout his life he held several positions: School Bus driver, Bush Operator – Great Lakes mill, and most commonly you would have known Wally as the man who delivered your fuel oil/gas to your homes or camps. The last position he held was with Kuppers Contracting driving a gravel truck until he became too ill. His last six months were spent surrounded by his family and friends.

Wally’s passion for life was trapping. He learned to trap at a very young age and was an active member of the Trappers Association. Whenever he wasn’t busy working you could find him out on the trap line. Wally never left his dogs at home; they always could be seen by his side out on the line.

He is survived by his wife Evelyn of 27 years and his 7 stepchildren: Beverley Graham (Stanley), Wanda Philipow (Bobbie), Penny Hunter, Dorothy Wall (partner Terry Neilson), Colleen Hill (James), Guy Wall, and Charles Marino (partner Melissa LeDahl); 20 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition he is survived by two brothers Morris Stewart (Gloria), Joe Winfield; and three sisters Hazel Baxter, Harriett Johnston, and Leona Stewart.

He was predeceased by his infant son in 1966; his father Fred Stewart 1989, and his mother Carolyn (Lina) 1991.

Cremation has taken place and a private family service will take place at a later date.

If friends so desire donations can be made to the Palliative Care Volunteer Program or a charity of your choice may be made through the Stevens Funeral Home, P.O. Box 412, Dryden P8N 2Z1. Condolences may be emailed to sympathycard@shaw.ca subject: Stewart
