A sigh of relief.
Kenora MP Greg Rickford is pleased that the government has taken action and suspended Patrick Brazeau, Mike Duffy and Pamela Wallin without pay for up to 2-years.
The vote results are:
Brazeau: 50 yes, 29 no, 13 abstained
Duffy: 52 yes, 28 no, 11 abstained
Wallin: 52 yes, 27 no, 12 abstained
Rickford says if they were in any other organization on business, they would face at minimum the type of punishment they received today.
He says now they can talk about Senate reform, and hopes the opposition parties will get on side with what they have been talking about and working through legislation that would hold the senate more accountable.
He adds that there are so many good things going on with the Canadian economy right now, that it will give them a chance to focus on what’s important, especially for folks in Northwestern Ontario.
