Bizarre………That’s what the President of the National Farmers Union, Jan Slomp is saying about the Trans Pacific trade agreement and what its effect will be on the future of farming in this country.
Slomp says farmers don’t need taxpayer money and yet, under this agreement, the federal government is setting aside billions of dollars in compensation for any financial losses but he predicts it will damage young farmers because the long term future in farming will be more insecure.
The National Farmers Union warns the stage is being set for a ten year phase out of the Canadian Dairy industry.
