Warning Of Yet Another Scam In The Area

A retired cop wasn’t fooled by the latest scam making the rounds.

A caller to the CKDR Newsroom advised us of a call he received from someone claiming to be from Visa.

They asked him if he had recently made a purchase on E-Bay, noting charges had been put through.

The caller then said they needed to cancel the card but it required him telling them the number and expiry date.

The man asked the scam artist to instead tell him the card number but the caller refused.

When asked to speak with a supervisor, a second person came on the phone, making the scam more believable.

Finally the man asked the caller what bank the Visa card was linked to.

After taking a failed shot at identifying the bank location, the fraudster hung up the phone.
