Washigamis Bay Fire Not Under Control

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is still tackling a fire near Washigamis Bay, along with eight other new forest fires in the region that cropped up yesterday.

They say it hasn’t been brought under control, but it has shrunk from seven hectares to five since yesterday afternoon.

It broke out around 3:30, raising concern from some residents of the First Nation, but it doesn’t seem any properties were damaged.

Another five-hectare fire started in the Thunder Bay area near the Harbour Expressway yesterday. (File Photo)
