Water Management Plan for Wabigoon-Eagle River Sys

A local Water Management Plan has received Provincial approval, the first body of water to do so under new guidelines.

The plan establishes legally enforceable maximum and minimum flows and water levels on the Wabigoon and Eagle River system.

MNR Spokesperson Martin Pell says local residents won’t see any change but he notes controlling water flows will ensure safe boating and protects fish spawning beds.

Pell says it will also result in improved ecosystem protection.
