The contenous issue of switching to water meters is back in the news in
Dryden.
Neptune Water Meters addressed Council Monday night highlighting the
benefits of making the move.
Dryden Mayor Anne Krassilowksy admits the City doesn’t have a fair
or revenue generating system but notes she has a number of concerns about any proposed switch.
Council is worried that meters require users to pay a base rate as well as a consumption rate.
Bruce Keachie of Neptune says meters reduce water and energy
consumption and levels the playing field in terms of paying for the service.
Keachie notes Municipalities are also feeling some heat from the
Province to operate a cost effective system.
Krassilowsky says meters are one option that needs to be explored.
