Weather Records Shattered Over The Weekend

Fort Frances was the only community in northwestern Ontario to reach record low temperatures every day over the long weekend.

Three of those days the temperature plunged below the -40 mark with the coldest day Saturday at -43.3.

Dryden and Red Lake recorded record lows Friday and Sunday.

Ear Falls also set a new low Sunday at -37.8

The old mark was -34.4 in 1974.

An Extreme Cold Warning has ended.

Saturday the 13
Fort Frances hit -43.3. Old mark was -37.5 set 1981
Kenora hit -33.4. Old mark was -32.8 set 1999

Sunday the 14
Dryden hit -35.5. Old mark was -33.9 set 1974
Ear Falls hit -37.8. Old mark was -34.4 set 1974
Fort Frances hit -38.8. Old mark was -38.0 set 2020
Kenora hit -33.9. Old mark was -32.3 set 1990
Red Lake hit -36.8. Old mark was -36.1 set 2008

Monday the 15
Fort Frances hit -40.6. Old mark was -34.9 set 2020
