Webequie And Province Reach Land Use Deal

Webequie First Nation has become the fourth community in the Ring of Fire area to reach an agreement with Ontario to work together on a community-based land use plan.
The plan will identify forestry, mining and renewable energy opportunities.
It identifies areas that are suitable for resource development as well as land that is designated for protection.
The government says the agreement will help create jobs and build economic growth.
Minister of Aboriginal Affairs David Zimmer says the agreement is another example on how the government is working closely with First Nations to create jobs and economic opportunities while protecting traditional lands.
