Weekend fire activity

The Ministry of Natural Resources says it had to deal with 21 new forest fires in northwestern Ontario over the weekend.

Most of the activity was in the Dryden and Fort Frances districts.

Fire Information Officer Travis Moffatt says storms that passed through the region late last week are the main cause of the new wild fires.

N005 Q: …weekend. (13 secs.)

MOffatt adds that high winds over the weekend didn’t help
fire crews trying to battle the fires.

The fire hazard in the region is moderate to high.
