A case of the West Nile Virus appears to have surfaced in Northwestern Ontario.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit says initial tests on a dead crow found in the city last month are positive for the virus.
More tests are being done to confirm the results.
Medical health officer Dr. David Williams says the discovery is not a surprise considering the trend from tests across Southern Ontario and Manitoba.
A West Nile case has also surfaced in Saskatchewan.
So far, no humans have contracted the virus in Canada although there have been numerous deaths reported in the U.S.
