West Nile Mosquitoes #2

The Northwestern Health Unit has found it’s first West

Nile Virus positive Mosquitoe this season.

The positive mosquitoe was picked up from a trap in the

Fort Frances area.

Environmental Health Officer Al Mathers says the public

should take measures to protect themselves.

The NWHU will stop testing mosquitoes for West Nile in

mid September. The health unit has already stopped

collecting dead birds. A total of 11 west nile positive

birds were identified this summer.
