The first cases of West Nile Virus have been confirmed in the Kenora
and Rainy River District.
Northwestern Health Unit Spokesperson Al Mathers says 11-birds have
tested positive in Dryden, Red Lake, Atikokan and just outside Fort Frances. (7 in Dryden, 2 in Red Lake, 1 Atikokan, 1 Fort Frances area)
The number of birds testing positive has already surpassed last years
total for the entire season.
Those 7 cases were in the Fort Frances area.
