William “ Bill ” McMillan

In loving memory of Bill McMillan, age 94, who passed away on Monday, December 5, 2011 at the Dryden Regional Health Centre.

Bill was born on June 12, 1917 in Dryden, Ontario to Herb and Alvira McMillan, the eldest of 3 sons. On February 27, 1946 Bill married the sunshine of his life, Peg (Margaret) Wintersgill.

Bill is survived by his children, Douglas (Michelle), Donald (Joan), Judy (Dave Malyk), Nancy (Fred Leeson), Robin (Tracy), Patricia (Rob Rodgers), Stephen, Richard (Kathy); and 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. He is also survived by his brother Angus, and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces.

He was predeceased by his wife Peg, daughter Shirley, brother Art, and parents.

Bill was a very active man all his life, from growing up on a dairy farm to captain of the tugboats for the paper mill for over 30 years. When retired, he worked as Road Superintendent for Barclay Township and then became the Reeve of Barclay. Bill loved building, gardening and a good game of cribbage; and in later years, loved the freedom that his scooter gave him.

A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, December 9th at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Alan Campeau officiating. Interment will take place in the Dryden Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 8th at 6:00 p.m. with prayers to be recited at 7:00 p.m. in the Moffat Chapel of the Stevens Funeral Home.

Bill will be forever remembered and missed by all who knew him.
