The start of Winter has officially begun.
Even though Northwestern Ontario has been getting cold temperatures for weeks, Thursday officially marks the first day of Winter.
The Winter solstice will take place at 10:28 in most of the region or 11:28 for those in the Eastern time zone.
The solstice is when the Northern Hemisphere is tilted the farthest from the sun, making for the shortest day of the year.
Northwestern Ontario is expected to get some cold temperatures today with wind chills way below -20.
