Last year’s harsh winter led to a temporary price surge for propane.
Superior Propane says if customers fill their propane tanks before the cold weather hits, it lets them take advantage of their fixed price plan before the prices spike.
Spokesperson Samantha Molenda says Superior offers a smart tank notification system, which sends a text or e-mail to customers when their tank needs to be filled or when fills happen.
Molenda says setting a programmable thermostat could save customer up to 10 per cent per year on heating costs.
She also says making sure to seal cracks and holes in outside walls and foundations near water pipes will help save on heating costs.
